team, according to the number of individual swimmers in the meet.

RULES: 2002 USS Rules and Regulations will govern competition.

ELIGIBILITY: All swimmers must hold current 2002 USS athlete memberships with New England Swimming.

Registration materials are available from Mary Riddell, 20 Cleveland Road, Needham, MA 02192. USS registration numbers must be included on entry forms. Swimmers’ ages for the entire meet will be determined by their age as of March 22, 2002.

ENTRY INFORMATION: All entries must be received on or before Tuesday, March 12, 2002 by 5:00 pm. Entries earlier than that will be greatly appreciated. Electronic entries, whether by email or on computer disk are appreciated and are less expensive (according to NES policy). Please submit an .sd3 file (LSA Team) or .cl2 (Hy-Tek Team Manager) file. Seed cards are not required

Email entries: Attach the .cl2 or .sde file to the email message. Please put NES District Entries in the subject field of the email.  A zipped version of the entry tends to work better than just attaching the regular entry file. If sending entries via email, the entry fees and a paper copy of the entry, along with the entry cover sheet must be received by Thursday March 14.

Other Entries: United States Postal Service Overnight Mail is the preferred mailing method. If Overnight Mail is used, indicate that the package be delivered even if no one is there to sign for it. No fax entries will be accepted. All fees must accompany the entry. Meet entries may be submitted on the official entry form or a computer generated facsimile (must contain swimmer name, NES registration number, age, sex, and verification codes). List all of your swimmers who will compete in the meet.

FRIDAY EVENING SESSION CUTS: If necessary, Friday evening events will be cut by time to insure adherence to a time line in accordance with NES policy.

IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUES:

1. There will be no diving during warm-ups, except in designated and announced sprint lanes. There will be no diving in the warm-up area at any time.

2. USS registered Marshals will oversee the general warm-ups prior to each session and the warm-up pool during each session. Coaches must be in attendance during the general warm-ups to supervise their swimmers. Any swimmer attending the meet without a coach should report to the referee before warm-ups.

3. Shaving policy. There will be no shaving at any New England meet, or any other competition receiving a New England sanction. This includes the showers or elsewhere in the swimming venue. Any swimmer violating this policy will be expelled from the meet.

OTHER MEET NOTES/PROCEDURES:

1. Coaches are expected to understand the positive check-in, scratch, and verification rules of the meet. Coaches should pick up their information packets in the office when they arrive at the meet. There will be a coaches meeting at the end of warm-ups on Friday evening.

2. Coaches are responsible for the behavior of their swimmers at all times. Any damage to the premises or equipment is the responsibility of those doing the damage. Neither New England swimming, host teams, nor host facilities will assume any responsibility for lost or stolen items. Any person found stealing or damaging property will be expelled from the meet.

3. The meet host will provide a complete schedule of warm-up procedures to include lane assignments, usage, and times that must be adhered to by all participants. This information will be distributed with the coaches’ packets, posted throughout the venue, and announced on a regular basis before and during the meet. Flagrant violation of these procedures may result in disqualification for unsportsmanlike activity. Encourage your swimmers to cooperate with the safety marshals.
