New This Year for Chaperones: Please note that in addition to the application and fee, chaperones must submit a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) result. To obtain a CORI, in most cases, the applicant can go to their own local Police Department with a photo ID and request one (there may be a small
fee and usually will be done for residents only). A brief form including name, address, previous address, etc. will need
to completed and in many cases, it only takes about 10 minutes and CORI verification is printed, which should be sent
with your Zone chaperone application or sent to me at least one week prior to the trip. It is suggested to check with
your local Police Department to confirm their procedure ahead of time.
Special Travel
Information: The New England Zone
Team (all swimmers ages 11 and older) will travel to the meet as a team,
leaving from the Auburn Mall very early on Tuesday morning 8/5. All 10 and younger swimmers will travel to
the meet with their parents. 10 and
under parents will be responsible for meals (except team lunches at the Holiday
Inn Gaithersburg each day of the meet), lodging and transportation for their
swimmers.
Swimmers must arrive on time for their assigned warm-up each day and will be completely cared for at the meet on deck by the coaches. All parents may volunteer to officiate or time in order to be on deck at the meet. Otherwise, all parents must view the meet from the spectator seating area. Only parents who are assigned New England Zone Team chaperones may be seated with the team on deck.
Dates: August 6-9, 2008 (Wednesday – Saturday)
Location: North Bethesda and
Warm-up: Lanes will be assigned to each LSC. We are required to warm-up at our designated time in our designated lane. All swimmers participating in the session, including relays, are to swim in warm-up with the team or risk being scratched from the meet. All 11 & Over Swimmers not participating in the session are to attend the entire session, providing great team spirit and support of the New England Team. All 11 and older swimmers will attend finals as a team.
Practice time: The pool will be open for assigned
team practices on Tuesday, August 5th. The
Volunteer Responsibilities: Each LSC is
required to provide one official and two timers per session. All
Trials and Finals: For all 11 and older swimmers, the top 8 swimmers from the preliminary sessions will be required to race in finals in the evening. All 10 and under events will be swum as timed finals. All 11 and older relays will be swum at finals at night. All 10 and under relays will be swum in the morning session as timed finals.
Meet Times, Programs and Admission: To be determined
Swimmer Conduct: Proper conduct at all times will be enforced by the coaches, chaperones, parents, meet marshals, and meet directors. Any swimmer found in marked out-of-bounds areas will be barred from the remainder of the meet. All trip rules and regulations will be set at the New England Zone Team Meeting prior to the trip. Swimmers who fail to abide by the trip rules will be subject to immediately dismissal from the trip at the full expense of the child’s family.
Rooming Assignments: Swimmers will be assigned to sleep 3 or 4
swimmers to a room. Swimmers will be
sharing beds with one another and may prefer to bring a sleeping bag to sleep
in on the bed. Swimmers will likely be

PLEASE NOTE:
This is a New England Team travel event. All 11 and older swimmers, coaches and
chaperones must travel together on the team busses to MD. While in MD, we will travel as a team to all
preliminary sessions. All 11 and older

Swimmers who wish to compete in the Eastern Zone Open Water Swimming Competition may do so at their own expense. New England Swimming will not be responsible for meet entry, staffing or supervision of any kind for this competition.
