IMPORTANT
INFORMATION for NEW ENGLAND COACHES
I. UPCOMING N.E. ANNUAL MEETING
At the New England Swimming Annual Meeting on
May 4th, we will hold an important coaches’ meeting from 11:30 a.m.
to 1:00 p.m. At this meeting, we will go over many of the topics discussed at
the 9-12 Age Group Championship Coaches’ Meeting held in February. Some changes
have been made due to the feedback at that particular meeting. In addition, we
will be electing a new Junior Coaches Representative. Amy Parratto’s term is up
and Laura Matuszak moves on to be the new Senior Coach Representative. If
anyone is interested in this position, PLEASE e-mail Laura or Amy before the
meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please put a statement together
saying why you would like the position. During the meeting, we will have pizza
& drinks.
II. COACHES CLINIC – May 4th
At
1:15, we will have a Coaches’ Clinic until 3:45 p.m. There is NO charge for
N.E. registered coaches! If coaches from outside of the LSC wish to attend,
there will be a minimal fee. The afternoon’s presentation will be given by Jim
Giroux from Perform Better (MF Athletic Company) out of Cranston, Rhode Island.
Jim will advise and guide the coaches through dryland strategies to raise the
performance level of your entire team.
This is a “hands-on” session combining a lecture and
participation on the part of the coaches. Jim will show us ways to improve
strength, conditioning, flexibility and some rehab techniques. If you need to
revive your dryland program or you need to start one, this afternoon will be
well worth the time spent! If you have any questions, please contact Amy at parratto@seacoastswimming.com
or Laura at lmatuszak@smcvt.edu.
Both the Annual Meeting and the Clinic will be held at the Wellesley
Community Center in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
III. SAFETY TRAINING for SWIM COACHES
If you or your program is running a course this spring, please let us know. We would like to post courses and contacts.
