To participate in the Zone meet, New England swimmers must have at least 2 long course qualifying times and complete an application.  The deadline for applications and trip fees for 14 & Under Swimmers will be at the conclusion of New England 14 & Under Championships in Dover NH on Sunday, July 26th and for 15-18 Swimmers and others (including new qualifiers) will be at the New Englang Open Championship Meet at Harvard on Monday, August 3rd.   The meet entry deadlines must be adhered to, thus there will be no exceptions to the swimmer application deadlines. Swimmers and parents may NOT enter the meet on their own.  This is a New England Team Travel event.   Times from New England calendar meets will all be downloaded for entry times, so best times in New England will be used.  If times from out of LSC times are used, please indicate so on application.

Special Travel Information:  The New England Zone Travel Team (all swimmers ages 11 and older) will travel to the meet together, leaving from the Auburn Mall at 8:00am on Tuesday morning August 11.  All 10 and younger swimmers will travel to the meet with their parents.

Swimmers must arrive on time for their assigned warm-up each day and will be completely cared for at the meet on deck by the coaches.  All parents may volunteer to officiate or time in order to be on deck at the meet.  Otherwise, all parents must view the meet from the spectator seating area.  Only parents who are assigned New England Zone Team chaperones may be seated with the team on deck.

Dates: August 12-15, 2009 (Wednesday – Saturday)

Location: State College, PA

Facilities: Penn State

Warm-up: Lanes will be assigned to each LSC.  We are required to warm-up at our designated time in our designated lane.  All swimmers participating in the session, including relays, are to swim in warm-up with the team or risk being scratched from the meet.  All 11 & Over Swimmers not participating in the session are to attend the entire session, providing great team spirit and support of the New England Team.  All 11 and older swimmers will attend finals as a team.

Practice time: The pool will be open for assigned team practices on Tuesday, August 11th.  The New England practice time will be determined later.  All New England team members will attend our practice session and warm-up as a team.

Volunteer Responsibilities: Each LSC is required to provide one official and two timers per session.  All New England chaperones will be required to time or officiate at most of the sessions.  Other volunteers for timing may be needed, also.

Trials and Finals: For all 11 & older swimmers, the top heat of swimmers from the preliminary sessions will be required to race in finals in the evening.  All 10 & under events will be swum as timed finals.  All 11 & older relays will be swum at finals at night.  All 10 & under relays will be swum in the morning session as timed finals.

Swimmer Conduct: Proper conduct at all times will be enforced by the coaches, chaperones, parents, meet marshals, and meet directors.  Any swimmer found in marked out-of-bounds areas will be barred from the remainder of the meet.  Swimmers must abide by all trip rules and regulations; swimmers who fail to do so will be subject to immediately dismissal from the trip at the full expense of the child’s family.

Rooming Assignments:  Swimmers (11 & over) will be assigned to sleep 3 or 4 swimmers to a room.  Swimmers will be sharing beds with one another and may prefer to bring a sleeping bag to sleep in on the bed.  Swimmers will likely be sharing a room with swimmers from other New England teams in the same age-group.
