MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Coaches will be issued heat sheets for each event as soon as they are available.

 

SITE: The Barletta Natatorium is a 6-lane, 25-yard pool with seven-foot-wide lanes and non-turbulent lane lines.  Fully-automatic Daktronic Time Systems electronic timing with touch pads at the finish end of the pool with six-line electronic display.  There are no touch pads at the turn end of the pool.  Attached to the main pool is a diving well area that is available for warm-up and warm down, approximately 10x20 yards in size.  The finish end of the pool is 9 feet deep; the turn end of the pool is 4 feet deep.  There is spectator seating for 500.  The pool is located inside the Barletta Natatorium on the Northeastern University Campus, 360 Huntington Avenue, Boston,  MA 02115.  Please enter through the main entrance on World Series Way.  Directions may be found later in this document. 

 

COURSE: Short course yards (25 yards).

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2004 or 2005 USA Swimming registered athletes.  All swimmers must be registered before the entry is submitted.  Teams that enter unregistered swimmers will be subject to a fine of $100 per unregistered swimmer.  New England teams entering the meet are encouraged to check their entries with the online registration check tool on the New England Swimming web site.  Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted on and after September 7, 2004.  Entries received before September 7, 2004 will be considered received on September 7, 2004.  Entries must be received no later than October 25, 2004.  Make checks payable to “Everglades Trust”.  Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to the entry chairperson: Tim Ernst, 3 Middlesex Street, Wellesley, MA  02482.  All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration.  All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver.  No deck entries will be accepted.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry.

 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson at swimmeetentry@comcast.net.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of receipt of the email entry.  If payment is received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and Holidays, of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment is received more than four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

 

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 events per day. 

 

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated until 7 days prior to the first day of the meet.  No new entries will be accepted after the October 25, 2004 entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chairperson at swimmeetentry@comcast.net . Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

 

 ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $3.50 for individual events.  Non-electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events.

 

ENTRY TIMES: All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times.  Meter times must be converted to yard times. (Entries with “NO TIME” will be rejected.)

 

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines.  Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut.

 

RELAYS: There will be no relays.

 

PROGRAMS: $5.00 for the weekend.

 

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

 

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one-hour before the beginning of each session. Diving will be prohibited during warm ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time.  The pool will close five minutes before the beginning of each session.  Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received. The diving well area will be available during the meet for warm up and warm down.

SAFETY:

 

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm up and warm down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No camera cell phones are permitted in the locker rooms.

 

RULES: 2004 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.

 

TIME TRIALS: Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual events and $10.00 for relays.

 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.  All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times.  Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

 

SCORING: The meet will not be scored.

 

 FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

 

EQUIPMENT VENDOR: A swimming equipment vendor will be selling suits, goggles, and other accessories for the duration of the meet.

 

MISCELLANEOUS: The Bernal Gator Swim Club assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen property.  Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

 

DIRECTIONS TO PARKING AREAS:

Parking is available in the Columbus Surface Parking Area as well as the Renaissance Parking Garage. Both entrances are located on Columbus Avenue and a 5-10 minute walk to the pool.  It is recommended that you drop your swimmers off at the pool entrance and then proceed onward to the parking areas.  Below you will find both directions if traveling to the pool or parking areas directly.

 

DIRECTIONS TO THE BARLETTA NATATORIUM AND THE ADJACENT CABOT CENTER BUILDINGS:

From the West (Massachusetts Turnpike): Follow turnpike into tunnel and take Prudential exit. Proceed westbound on Huntington Avenue. Solomon Court at Cabot Center is approximately three tenths of a mile on left at intersection of Huntington and Forsyth Street.

From the South and West (128/95): Take 128/95 to Route 93. Take Mass. Ave exit and take right onto Mass. Ave. Follow Mass. Ave through seven set of lights until St. Botolph Street. Take left onto St. Botolph and follow to stop sign. Take right onto Gainsborough Street and then a left onto Huntington Avenue. Solomon Court at Cabot Center is on the left at corner of Huntington Avenue and Forsyth Street.

From the North (93 & 95 across Tobin Bridge): Take exit 26 (Storrow Drive) and follow signs for Storrow Drive. Take Fenway exit and proceed straight off exit ramp (follow signs for Boylston Street Inbound, do not bear right) and continue through three sets of lights to Mass. Ave. Take right onto Mass. Ave. and proceed to Huntington AVenue (right after Symphony Hall). Take right onto Huntington and Solomon Court at Cabot Center is on the left at the corners of Huntington and Forsyth Street.

Public Transportation: Take the "E" car of the Green Line to Northeastern stop. Solomon Court at Cabot Center is across Huntington Avenue from the stop.

Getting to Northeastern (PARKING FOR THE POOL)


From the north (via Route I-93 or Route 1)

Take the Storrow Drive exit, and proceed to the Fenway exit. Follow signs for Boylston Street inbound, and bear right onto Westland Avenue. Turn right onto Massachusetts Avenue, proceed to the third traffic light, and turn right onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.


From the west (via Route 90, Massachusetts Turnpike)

Take Exit 22 (Copley Square), and bear right. Proceed to the first traffic light, and turn right onto Dartmouth Street. Take the next right onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.


From the west (via Route 9)

Proceed east on Route 9; it will become Huntington Avenue. Turn right onto Ruggles Street. At the fourth traffic light, turn left onto Tremont Street. At the second set of lights, turn left onto Melnea Cass Boulevard, and then turn left onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.


From the south (via Route 3, Southeast Expressway)

Take Exit 18 (Massachusetts Avenue), and proceed onto Melnea Cass Boulevard. Continue for approximately two miles, and turn left onto Columbus Avenue. The Renaissance Parking Garage is at 835 Columbus Ave.


Via public transportation

Northeastern is accessible by subway via the Green Line of the MBTA. From downtown Boston, take an “E” train outbound to the Northeastern stop, the first stop above ground. The campus can also be reached from downtown via the Orange Line by taking any train going outbound to Forest Hills and getting off at Ruggles Station. Commuter rail lines connect with the Orange Line at Back Bay Station and North Station.
