TIMES: 

Friday: warm up 4:30 p.m. start 5:30 p.m. all ages
AM Sat & Sun warm up 7:30 a.m. start 9:00 a.m. 8 & Unders, 9-10, 15-19
PM Sat &  Sun warm up 1:15 p.m. start 2:45 p.m. 11-12, 13-14

Warm-ups will be split by age groups and teams may be assigned lanes.

 

FACILITY:  White Brook Middle School, 200 Park St., Easthampton, MA has a six lane, 25 yard pool with non-turbulent lane lines and electronic timing.  Seating is limited (approx. 300), therefore swimmers are asked to remain in the bullpen (gym) area.  All events will be announced from the bullpen.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION: Entries will be accepted beginning January 21, 2002 and must be completed and received by 5:00 p.m. January 28, 2002.  Entries must be e-mailed, or on IBM compatible computer disk (Hy-Tek) according to N.E. Swim guidelines. For those teams without computer capabilities, entries may be submitted with the enclosed N.E. Standard Entry Form. With the electronic entries, payment, hard copy, and the signed release form must be received within four days of the date of your e-mail. If the check does not arrive within the required time, the date your check arrives becomes the date of entry. The team entry must be submitted in a standard meet entry file format, either .cl2 or .sd3. Please also ensure that your entry file is sent virus free. No refunds will be made. It will be up to the Meet Manager’s discretion to accept updated times or changes. No changes will be made after February 1, 2002. Make checks payable to "Easthampton Barracudas Swim Team" and mail to: Cheryl Fletcher, 22 Gunn Road, Southampton, MA  01073.  (If FedEx is used, please sign waiver of signature.)

 

ENTRY FEE AND ELIGIBILITY: All swimmers must be 2002 registered swimmers with New England Swimming.  Swimmers may register with the New England Swimming Office, 20 Cleveland Road, Needham, MA  02192.  Entry fee for this meet is $3.00 per individual event, (electronic entries, e-mail or disk)  or $3.50 for hand entries.  Distance events (over 200) are $5.00 for electronic entries or $5.50 for hand entries. There is a $1.00 New England Travel Fund Surcharge per swimmer and must be made by separate check payable to New England Swimming.

 

AWARDS:    Medals:    1st - 6th place individual

                      Ribbons: 7th - 12th place individual

 

ADMISSIONS:  $1.00 per session.        PROGRAMS: $2.00 per session

 

REFRESHMENTS:  A complete snack bar will be available

 

METER TIMES: Short course meter times must be converted to short course yards by multiplying by 0.9049.

 

OFFICIALS & TIMERS: In accordance with New England Championships procedure, all teams entering this meet may be asked to provide a pro-rata share of officials and timers.  Teams who have individuals who would like to officiate should contact Cheryl Fletcher – 413-527-6888.  Teams will be notified in advance as to their timing assignments.  Any team entering swimmers in the 500 Free events must provide counters and timers for each of their swimmers.

 

FORMAT: All events will be timed finals.  The meet will be run with a bullpen.  Swimmers may scratch an event by not showing up at the bullpen.  However, to facilitate the smooth operation of the meet, coaches are requested to submit all scratches 1/2 hour before the start of the session.  Once an event is seeded, no more swimmers will be allowed to swim in that event.  Under no circumstances will an event be re-seeded due to late arrivals to the bullpen.

 

ENTRY TIMES AND VERIFICATIONS: All swimmers must enter with their best times achieved from September 1, 2001 through January 28, 2002. The meet will be strictly monitored to prevent any swimmer from entering the meet with incorrect times.  Any swimmer proven to be ineligible for an event due to "too fast time" will be barred from the rest of the meet.  If several swimmers from one team are found to have false times entered, the swimmers and the coach will be banned from the remainder of the meet.  No "no times" will be accepted.  Swimmers must have a legal time to enter an event. 

 

NUMBER OF EVENTS: A swimmer may not enter more than 5 events per day.

 

ENTRY CUTS: If the meet is oversubscribed, the distance events may be limited to 2 -3 heats, per sex, per age group.

 

8 & UNDER CHAMPS: Any 8 & under swimmer who qualifies for age groups at this meet is eligible to participate in next weeks 8 & under championship meet. See the appropriate 8 & under meet information for entry details. Entries must be received by Tuesday February 12th.

 

RULES:  2002 United States Swimming rules will govern all competition and decisions of the referee will be final.

 

NOTE:  THERE WILL BE NO DIVING DURING WARM-UPS EXCEPT IN DESIGNATED LANES WHEN ANNOUNCED.  THERE WILL BE NO SHAVING AT ANY NEW ENGLAND CALENDAR MEET OR AT ANY OTHER COMPETITION RECEIVING A NEW ENGLAND SWIMMING SANCTION.  THIS INCLUDES NO SHAVING IN SHOWERS OR ELSEWHERE ON THE SWIMMING VENUES.

 

DIRECTIONS:  From the north or south, take route 91 to exit 17B.  At the end of the exit, take a right onto route 141.  Follow over the mountain to first set of lights.  Go straight through lights onto Payson Ave..  Follow to Park Street.  Take a left onto Park St. Approximately 1 mile on your left is White Brook Middle School.  The school is set back from the road on a long driveway.  Please park in lots, NOT in front of the building.
